FAQs

What is an Individualised Living Option (ILO)?
An ILO is a flexible NDIS support that helps people design and live in a home environment that suits their lifestyle and goals. It focuses on choice, independence, and community connection rather than a one-size-fits-all housing model.

How is an ILO different from Supported Independent Living (SIL)?
Unlike SIL, which provides set support ratios and staffing, ILOs are built around the individual’s preferences. You decide who you live with, how supports are provided, and the type of living arrangement that fits you best.

Who can access an ILO?
Anyone with NDIS funding who wants more choice and control over their home life can explore an ILO. It’s ideal for people who want to live more independently with flexible, person-centred support.

What kinds of living arrangements are possible under an ILO?
An ILO can include living alone with drop-in supports, sharing a home with housemates, or co-residing with a host family. Each arrangement is tailored to your needs, goals, and preferences.

How are costs and supports managed?
Accommodation costs like rent and utilities are paid separately from your NDIS plan, while your Core and Capacity Building funding covers your support hours and living arrangement setup. Payments are usually managed through Direct Debit or Centrepay.

How do I apply or express interest in an ILO with Guiding Light Care?
You can submit a referral directly through www.guidinglightcare.com.au/referrals or contact our team for a chat about suitability and next steps. We’ll help you explore your options and design a living setup that works for you.
